Dear Readers,

At FairWarning, we often spend weeks or months on stories that otherwise wouldn’t get told.

We recently profiled a lawyer who has used the threat of deportation to keep farm workers from complaining about labor violations. We revealed how big polluters have managed to avoid the cleanup of contaminated ground water supplies. FairWarning commissioned air tests to investigate possible health risks to landscaping workers from gas-powered leaf blowers and other gardening equipment. And we highlighted the wireless industry’s failure to take meaningful steps to cut the death toll from distracted driving.

Stories like these are expensive, even for a lean, scrappy outfit like FairWarning. We couldn’t do them without our generous donors. And while support from readers is vital at any time, your tax-deductible gift today can help us to unlock a great opportunity.

FairWarning is part of News Match 2017, a grassroots campaign to strengthen nonprofit news organizations. From today through December 31, all donations will be matched, up to $1,000 per gift! FairWarning can get up to $28,000 in matching funds. That means that if donors give $28,000, we’ll raise a total of $56,000–so this is a big deal for us.

Your support will advance our mission of delivering tough watchdog journalism in the public interest. Please donate today by clicking here, or by mailing your tax-deductible contribution to:

All the best wishes for a healthy and happy holiday season.
