The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is warning owners of 2010 Ford Fusions and Mercury Milans to be careful with their floor mats. The agency is investigating reports of unsecured floor mats slipping beneath gas pedals and trapping them in the accelerator position.

Ford’s “All Weather” optional floor mat and other after-market floor mats are only secured when the standard carpet floor mat has already been removed. So far, the NHTSA has received only three complaints of stuck pedals, and no reports of accidents, injuries or fatalities. The investigation covers about 250,000 vehicles.
