Name: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Office of Publications

Historical Note:

The Office of Campus Publications appears to have been established in 1971.1 Its name changed several times in the 1970s , first to the Campus Office of Publications, then to Office of Publications.2 Its reporting lines also changed during this period. From 1973 to 1977, the Office of Publications reported to the Vice-Chancellor for Administrative Affairs through the Office of Public Information. Since 1977, it has reported to the University Chancellor through the Office of Public Affairs, to which it is subordinated.3 In 1984, the Office of Publications was reorganized and its main activity defined as "working with campus departments and units to produce marketing and recruitment publications that meet their needs and promote a consistent image of the University of Illinois." In addition, it is responsible for "maintain[ing] current information about the University" and "provid[ing] campus units with the latest facts and figures about our institution."4
