Potential Fuel Leaks Spark Toyota Recall of 245,000 More U.S. Vehicles

Toyota Motor Corp. has announced the recall of an estimated 245,000 Lexus vehicles in the U.S. to investigate a problem with a fuel-pressure sensor that has the potential to cause gas leaks.

The Japanese auto giant also recalled 1.3 million cars abroad, in response to another fuel-system issue, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The company’s once-sterling reputation has taken a beating in recent years, as various problems have forced it to recall more than 12 million cars in the U.S. since late 2009. That included a problem with unintended acceleration, which was blamed for a number of deaths.

Subject to the latest U.S. recall are the Lexus GS 300, GS 350, IS 250 and IS 350. The model years run from 2006 through 2009.

Lexus dealers will perform the improvements, by checking for gas leaks and tightening the fuel sensors.
