The Campbell Soup Company is voluntarily recalling nearly 15,000,000 pounds of SpaghettiOs with meatballs—35,000 cases—over concerns that they may have been undercooked.
The company discovered the issue while conducting a routine inspection of its Paris, Texas plant, and recalled the product in an “abundance of caution,” according to a statment. There have been no reports of illnesses, the USDA said.
The recall covers 14.75 ounce cans of three types of SpaghettiOs: SpaghettiOs with Meatballs, with the product code “U5″ on the bottom of the can; “SpaghettiOs” A to Z with Meatballs with the product code “4N”; and “SpaghettiOs” Fun Shapes with Meatballs with the code “KS.” They all have a use-by date between July 2010 and December 2010.
Campbell’s spokesman Anthony Sanzio told Reuters the company did not believe the recalled SpaghettiOs had reached consumers, but if it did, it could cause vomiting and nausea.
Consumers can return the SpaghettiOs to the store where they were purchased for a full refund, or call the Campbells hotline: (866) 495-3774.
