Sudden acceleration will get a closer look from researchers at the National Academy of Sciences and NASA.
According to the Detroit Free Press, NASA was called on to look at whether cosmic rays and electromagnetic radiation are causing electronic problems that lead to sudden acceleration. Toyota and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have both been unable to find a problem with the electronic systems in Toyota vehicles, but members of Congress continue to push for studies of those systems.
The study by the National Academy of Sciences is expected to take 15 months and will be submitted to NHTSA.
