To anyone who has flown in the last couple years, it probably comes as no surprise: Flight attendants are tired of the over-sized carry-on bags that many passengers pack to avoid baggage check fees.
A recent survey by the Association of Flight Attendants found that 80 percent of their members had been bruised, cut or strained because of items in the overhead bins. And 50 percent said they had seen items fall from overhead bins in the last two months. All kinds of large and potentially hazardous items are included as carry-ons these days, portable toilets and home beer-brewing kits to name a couple, according to union spokespeople. The AFA is recommending a smaller, universal size limit for carry-ons.
Flight attendants appeared on Good Morning America today to make their case.
